Syrian women activists and rights advocates stressed the importance of reviewing past and current legislation and its role in protecting women's rights. They called for intensifying efforts during the transitional period to ensure women's rights are guaranteed and enshrined in Syria's new constitution. (Photos and video attached).
A growing number of farmers in Tirbespiye are adopting intensive farming as an alternative that allows them to harvest more than one crop per year amid economic challenges and declining returns from some crops. Farmers say this approach has reduced fallow periods and increased income, while emphasizing the need for modern technologies and agricultural extension services to ensure its sustainability. The Jazira Fuel Directorate said it has assumed responsibility for supervising electricity generators after the previous committees were dissolved over reported violations. It also confirmed continued diesel subsidies, prioritizing fuel supplies for service institutions, a decline in the number of fuel tankers arriving daily, and an ongoing study to increase Jazira's fuel allocations. At one corner of the Qamishlo Summer Festival, Jihan displayed her handmade crafts, saying women play a role in both the economy and culture. Nearby, Berin, the festival's youngest participant, impressed visitors by turning colorful beads into distinctive works of art. (Photos and video attached).
The Environment Committee in Kobani has launched two projects to produce locally made organic fertilizers aimed at supporting agriculture, recycling plant waste, and reducing production costs. The fertilizers are expected to be distributed to farmers before next spring. (Photos and video attached).
As the harvest season ends in the Jazira, some farmers continue burning crop residues to clear their fields. Agricultural experts warn that the practice causes serious damage to soil, the environment, and livestock, urging farmers instead to use the residues as organic fertilizer or animal feed. The Coordination and Consultation Committee of Assyrian National Parties in Syria will commemorate Assyrian Martyrs' Day at the hall of the Church of the Virgin Mary in Tel Tamr at 7:00 p.m. (Photos and video attached).
