A child was killed in a drone strike by Pakistani forces in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, while a military operation continued in Mastung and the body of a man earlier injured during an operation in Shahrag was recovered, local sources said on Thursday.

The child, identified as Mohammad Aiman, son of Yar Mohammad, was killed in the Sasol Goru area of Khuzdar district on Wednesday. Sources said he was at a local hotel when the drone strike took place.

Pakistani forces launched a military operation early on Thursday morning in the Kambela area of Dasht in Mastung district, where a large number of personnel surrounded the area.

Sources said drone strikes and mortar fire were carried out during the operation, damaging populated areas. Further details regarding casualties, detentions or the extent of the damage were not immediately available.

IED attacks on Pakistani forces were also reported during the operation, though the extent of any losses could not be independently confirmed.

Separately, the body of Aziz-ur-Rahman Sumalani was recovered in Shahrag after he had earlier been reported seriously injured in firing during a military operation.

The Balochistan Post had earlier reported that Aziz-ur-Rahman and Sher Zaman were seriously injured during the Shahrag operation, while eight people were forcibly disappeared and two women were injured during house-to-house searches.
